Search Engine Optimisation is about making your website Search Engine friendly so that it appears amongst the first few results on a Search Engine search. What is important however, is to make sure that one tries only the legal and ethical ways.
SEO is an acronym for
“Search Engine Optimisation”. Search engine optimisation is a
process of crafting a site's content so that the site gets high
rankings in the various search engines (both the site and individual
pages), and includes tailoring on-page text (such as headlines and
subtitles) as well as choosing the proper keywords for a page's meta
tags. A form of online marketing, SEO/SEM is the process of
making a site and its content highly relevant for both search engines
and searchers. Successful search marketing helps a site gain top
positioning for relevant words and phrases.
